On 16th October 2017, after consultation with our PPG (Patient Participation Group) we introduced a new appointment system. The system we have introduced is a more traditional face to face GP appointment system. Each day the doctors face to face appointments for the whole day are released at 08:00 when the telephone lines open. As well as on the day appointments being released at 8am, there are also face to face appointments released for the next day, two days time and a week ahead. As we know continuity of care is important so we do our best to book you with you named GP where possible.
A number of face to face doctor appointments are available to book using the patient access system online, these are also released at 8am in the morning.
When all the routine on the day appointments have been filled you will be asked to either call us another day if your medical concern can wait or come along to our Sit and Wait clinic if you have a new medical problem.
There are a few telephone consultations still available within the new system, these are ideally used for follow up calls regarding test results etc.
What has stayed the same are our Extended Hours clinics. These are mainly telephone consultation appointments and are held either between 7am and 8am or 6.30 – 7.30 pm on days during the week and every other Saturday morning. Please ask our receptionists for more details of these clinics.
Sit and Wait Clinics
If you experience a new problem (episode) you can now walk in and sit and wait without needing to call before arriving. You will need to arrive and book in at reception between 9.00am and 12:30pm. We will guarantee you will be seen on the same day by the ‘sit and wait’ doctor. We cannot guarantee waiting times.
Nurse Practitioner (Advanced Nurse Clinics)
Our highly qualified Nurse Practitioners offer triage calls in the mornings. The patient services team members are able to direct your call to them if they have capacity and it is appropriate. The Nurse Practitioner is then able to advise you over the telephone or arrange a face to face appointment with you if necessary.
Nurse/Health Care Assistant
These can be booked can be made 4/6 weeks in advance. Appointments with our Phlebotomists and certain nurse clinics are available to book online using the Patient Access System, unfortunately not all nurse appointments can be booked online as certain conditions require specific nurses for those appointments and their durations can vary greatly so we are unable offer all nurse appointments online.
As a training practice we often have registrars at the surgery, they offer additional appointments to our patients. They are qualified doctors in training to be general practitioners. Ask our patient services team for more information.
